Halfmoon Bay Performing Arts

Elaine will be offering dance classes in Halfmoon Bay Community School beginning in September 2011.

Jazz, ballet, hip hop, musical theatre, lyrical jazz and tap.

Ages 3 - 16 yrs.
Adult choreography class, Lyrical, Fosse, up tempo jazz styles. Wednesdays 6 30 pm OR Tuesdays 6 30 pm

Dancers will perform in the Sunshine Coast Performing Arts Festival and at local festivals.

Elaine will work with her students developing a sound technical base. Elaine likes to get the personal best out of every dancer. Performance is so important to any dancer and Elaine will help each student understand what it means to perform and how they can dance at a high performance level.

And of course it will be FUN.

YEARLY SCHEDULE

Classes begin September 21st and the season will end May 31 2012.
Closed 2 weeks at Chrismas and 1 week at March Break.
Last class before Christmas is December 16th and the 1st class in 2012 is January 4th.
We will be closed on all stat holidays.
Payment can be in 1, 2 or 3 installments.Monthly payments also accepted.

3 30 - 4 30 pm junior musical theatre 7 - 13 yrs

4 30 - 5 30 pm pre teen hip hop 8 - 12 yrs

6 30 - 7 30 pm adult jazz

12 30- 1 30 pm 5 - 8 yrs ballet / jazz

BIO


Elaine Hunter owned and directed Elaine Hunter Dance School in Ottawa from 1975 - 2006. Her students performed on Parliament Hill for the Canada Day celebrations many times and were part of CBC productions televised nationally.
She created World Wide Dance For Peace and travelled to Shanghai China 7 times where her students performed representing Canada at the Shanghai International Childrens Cultural and Arts festival, Elaine also taught dancers at the Childrens Palace in Shanghai several times.
She helped to raise over $500,000.00 for charities in the Ottawa area and World Vision with many dance performances over the 31 years as the director / teacher at her school. Her dancers performed at many high profile events thoughtout the Ottawa area including the National Art Gallery, National Arts Center, Parliament Hill center block, National library, City hall and others. Her competitive dance teams won hundreds of awards and Elaine received top choreographic awards many times. Elaine has been a full member of the Canadian Dance Teachers Association since 1978 and holds a Diploma of Education from Nottingham University UK.
Elaine moved to Halfmoon Bay, BC in 2006 where she is now teaching dance and is a creative photographer .
